Bravehearts & Day for Daniel. Wear a splash of Red, Thursday 14th November

14 November 2019 | General Interest

‘Day for Daniel’ at St Joseph’s – Thursday the 14th of November (Wear a splash of Red)

Each year we support the Daniel Morcombe Foundation where we raise money for all the incredible work they are doing to ‘keep kids safe’ in Australia.

“It is the responsibility of adults to keep children safe, this includes helping them develop personal safety skills. It is not about scaring or frightening children but increasing communication and learning new skills. Our job as safe adults is to listen, believe and support.” (Daniel Morcombe Foundation Website)

This year we are encouraging all students to wear a splash of red to school for a gold coin donation. The splash of red might be hair ties, ribbons, scarves or socks.

On this day we will also be hosting ‘Bravehearts’ who are running a personal safety program for Foundation to Year 2 students. This program will include a visit from ‘Ditto’ who shares a message about personal safety in a fun and interactive manner. Parents are welcome to attend. (Mary MacKillop Centre 9:45) Please read the parent information letter about this program that has gone home today or have a look at the Bravehearts website.

Middle and Senior Students will be involved in activities from the Daniel Morcombe Foundation website with the focus being on keeping safe.

We look forward to providing our students with another great opportunity with a message of ‘keeping safe’. It will be a great follow up from our experience with Cyber Tracey discussing online safety last week.
